Christmas Dreams come true at Bentleyville.

I’m so pleased that there are business people out there with a dream!

And “dreams” don’t come cheaply. I’m especially speaking about the dream of a young child who is absolutely enthralled by the larger than life, light display of Bentleyville, now in Duluth Minnesota. And also the dream of kids who have parents that may not have enough food or money to buy gifts this season to put under the tree.

The solution is: Bentleyville in Duluth Minnesota, where the true spirit of Christmas exudes the entire season by the sponsors, the volunteers who spend time before, during, and after who build and disassemble it each year, and the attendees who bring a non-perishable food item or toy.
This year I’m putting my money where my mouth is, as a  “Thank You” to the sponsors listed below, I offer the following promotions:

Duluth Grill Consistently Amazes for the Price

Today my son and daughter treated me to breakfast because yesterday, February 20th, I celebrated my birthday. (It has become a national holiday because of my birthday and they threw in a couple of fine presidents to make it look good). We were to meet at the Scenic Café but because they are not open for breakfast during the weekdays, we chose another favorite: the Duluth Grill.
The family who own and operate the Duluth Grill, deserves the success it has rightly attained. As I drove in the packed parking lot this morning, I was reminded of a story of a salesperson who many years ago, rushed into a department store, rudely ignoring the man sweeping the sidewalk, to get the “big guy” inside to sell his wares. He was told that the man he needed to speak with was outside, sweeping the sidewalk. Similarly I met Louis shoveling the inches of fresh fallen snow from the walk. I greeted him.
Inside I enjoyed the interesting wall décor and advertisements that further welcomed me in the greeting area as I waited a bit for my son and daughter.
We were served by Lacy who definitely is a professional. My son and I have similar tastes and both ordered the Everything Omelet using magnanimous quantities of Tabasco sauce requested for our perfectly done hash browns. However he had the homemade whole-wheat toast and I always have to have the “buckwheat (I think)” pancakes. Wow, they are to “live for”! My daughter was disappointed to hear that the “Red Flannel Hash” was not available to accompany her Everything Skillet, but Lacy returned later with the news that if by magic, there was still some available.
Duluth Grill is certainly a rarity of restaurants in presenting quality and quantity. If you want to be consistently amazed at what your dollar will buy you for breakfast, lunch and dinner, visit the Duluth Grill often.
As I drove away, I noticed Louis’ dad, Tom, using a snow blower to remove the rest of the snow from the parking lot.
There are plenty of places to eat in Duluth Minnesota; one of my favorites is Blackwoods. They have 3 locations.
Last night I treated my girl to a wonderful dinner at Blackwoods in Proctor. When I saw Randy, I immediately asked the host if he could be our server because I’ve always gotten great service by him. He was assisted by Maggie who was in training. We’ve also enjoyed great dining experiences at the Duluth location as well.

After ordering a white zin wine for her, and a Black Forest Ale (or something like that- it was close to an Amber Bock) we ordered the Bulldog bites which are sautéed beef tips on a blanket of crispy onions and more. These were absolutely delicious and served in a quantity that makes it a meal in itself. Deborah ordered the beef tips which were smothered in a great tasting creamy mushroom sauce and I ordered the full rack of ribs. The ribs were good but I’m so biased because I find that it is so hard to beat Eddies in Superior Wisconsin; but I am always looking for a contender.
The atmosphere was very relaxed for a Sunday night and the service was impeccable. But here’s the clincher: this wonderful night was topped off with a complimentary treat for my girl because it was her birthday; a nice touch!

I recommend Blackwoods for any dining occasion. The food and service is always great and the prices as reasonable as anywhere. .

Terrific. Energizing. Results!

PS. The people at Blackwoods certainly know how to market as they offer a “loyalty” card that earns points, and they never forget you birthday!
